Question Explanation of the Birds and the Bees

I've got an 11 year old who is already asking those kind of question because my wife is pregnant, and he was already curious before he found that out. I've been trying to answer without being totally forthcoming.
Is there any good book for me to read on how to go about explaining the birds and the bees to my son?
My father never told me, so I have no experience there to draw from and my son is homebound schooled so he don't take health class for him to learn it from school.
any advice or experience would be helpful.

Oh my. This is a tough one. Does he know anything yet? I told my son about the physical aspects of how human bodies function in little pieces as he grew up. The old "the daddy plants the seed in the mommy" kind of stuff when he was little and wondered how the baby got in there. And when he asked for more info, I gave it to him. So there was never a focused effort. I remember when he was about 11 asking me about what a hermaphradite was. (!!!) He heard the word somewhere, I guess! But he had enough info already that we could launch into genetics from that. The rough part for me, as a single mom, was the teaching of sexual ethics. Specific morality and honesty issues, temptation, etc.
So, back to the original ?, what does he already know?

I have always been very open and honest with my daughter answering questions that she asks. when she was alot younger we talked about the Mummy having the seed and the Daddy having the water to make the seed grow but instead of planting the seed in a pot the seed inside the Mummy and when the daddy waters the seed it grows into a baby but it takes a long time to grow.

My son knows the basics of it. He knows how a man's and a woman's body is formed and different from each other. He knows that a woman's body contains the eggs and a man has sperm, but we have not told him how they come toghether. We even explained to him what a hermaphadite was because that topic came up one time.
I have yet to explain to him what puberty does to him or a girl. What sex really is or the emotions that he will face or temptations,
But I do know it's time to talk about it and I want to be open and honest with him and I dont want him to learn about it from friends, magazines or shows. I want him to feel that he could come to me about anything or not be afraid to ask questions.

An easy place to start would be with erections. All boys get them, so you can explain its various uses. (blush)
But, nope, I don't know any good books on the subject. I would probably do a google search and start reading on-line.
