Went to my first Alanon meeting

Last night. My first ever 12-step meeting.
I really liked it. Saw an old friend who it was really good to reconnect with.
Went with a friend. We're going to go back next week.
All-in-all, pretty good!

funny how it follows the family, eh?
My dad died of it, a brother died of it, my son will celebrate 5 years clean & sober in a couple weeks, and my husband has been sober for...drum roll please... a month. lol

Congratulations, Becky! That has to be a big feeling of relief for you. I can't even imagine how stressful that must get.

It's stressful either way, David. When he's sober, there's go guarentee that he'll still be sober when I get home from work.
Our marriage was very, very close to the brink, though, and he's so madly in love with him that he FINALLY figured out he needs to work on his "stuff." Fortunately, we're best friends and communicate really well. And none of the alcoholics in my life have ever been violent. Just stupid. Sigh.
Hey Trish, there's on-line Alanon, or so I've heard. I haven't checked it out. Want me to get the info for you?

That's good to hear. Also, I must say that Alanon sounds so much cooler than AA. Ironically, it would be a great name for bar...

Hi Becky. That's good you liked Alanon and are going back. I went once with my mil as her younger son (hubby's brother) is an alcoholic. It did help her to talk to other's who were going through the same thing.

I'm looking forward to learning the social, spiritual, emotional ways of dealing with things. Those apply across the board to absolutely everything!
