Anyone else have asthma?

I've had it since I was 18- after suddenly getting it then. I woke up after a nap on the couch and told my mom the blanket was strangling me. I had been sick with a cold anyways, but I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with bronchitis, then asthma later. I was on Advair 500/50 and Singulair for awhile, but it's gotten better, so I just need Advair once a day now.

Hi Christine. I was diagnosed with asthma 21 years ago, though it has given me very few problems since, just a few attacks, usually in response to animal allergies. I keep a reliever to hand, but rarely need it.
My 15 year old son was diagnosed at the age of just 9 months, and it's been a whole different story with him, he's certainly been through the mill a few times. He takes Flixotide, Serevent, Bricanyl, and occasional courses of oral steroids.

Hi Christine. I developed asthma when i stopped smoking 3yrs ago, i also piled on the pounds and 2yrs after being dx with asthma i developed T2 diabetes. The asthma nurse said my inhalers were probably to blame for the Diabetes.

I did feel healthier when i but i'm glad i stopped. Moe

I apparently have exercise enduced asthma, not that I have had an asthma attack at all since I was 21.

i'm not sure if i have asthma, or should i say bronchitis induced asthma

when i get bronchitis, i need the inhalers that are given out for asthma

my son, as a baby and toddler, would get asthma everytime he got a cold, and we spend our share of time in emergency getting ventolin delivered to him (often for hours and hours, meaning that i was way late on eating dinner or going to bed!)

ps... my mother was told she has asthma when she hit her 60's

I also join the "asthma" club. When we had cats, I was so much worse requiring daily neb treatments. Now I rarely need my inhaler for emergencies. But I take singluair, advair, zyrtec, and albuterol as needed (have inhalers and nebs) And I love my fishy neb mask. Dont want to give it up. Since your supposed to change them out and get new ones every so often, my mom just bleaches the one i have. I cannot get the fish one any more. The company we use now doesnt carry them, makes me so mad!

I do not have asthma.....However being a RT for many years, I have dealt with every Respiratory illness there is.
Asthma can be a very scarey thing for someone who has it...Keeping on top of knowing your body and regular visits to the Dr. is a must...
Also, it can come on very fast and can get really bad very fast...
Know your limitations with it, and always carry your inhaler(s) where ever you go...
