I wrote my treatise on the future of social networking and health communities. Let me know what you think!

Very nice David. I really hadn't giving this topic any thought until now. It will be something that is interesting to watch over time.

David, I was very much impressed with your treatise. Excellent! That is great that Amy took notice. That will give our site a good plug when she includes it in her "Grand Rounds".

Richard, on a slightly related note, I've really been enjoying your blog. We are going to promote it in our February newsletter. I think it will bring a lot of people in. It's captivated me. :)

David, I enjoyed reading your article. It brings up good points to think about. Many Doctors today do not have time to really listen to their patients. My Doctor and I have already discussed several topics that I've read about on the DD forum. Thank you for the good work.

Interesting article David....I think that the Dr.s can only give us the tools for our Dx. And, continue to monitor our Dx's.....
Its up to us to do the 'maintence' part of it......
These sites help us to work those 'tools' to get our medical problems under control...
I personally think our DD. site is 'Top Notch'
I have found I just don't have the time to be involved in all of them....I have surfed alot of them but have chosen the one I feel is most beneficial to MY daily walk on this journey....

Terri

I like the idea of the personal exchange of information. I was on mybrokenleg.com after I, well, broke my leg of course, and there was such support and info to be had about what to expect, what hurts, what's hard or easy, how people handlied the obtacles, what success (and failure) looked like and felt like. It was so good!

That's a perfect example of a targeted group. Hopefully as our audience grows here, we can create more niches within the site. Simply by dividing it up into categories, I think we've helped make it more likely that sub-communities will form.

Everyone here is really a trailblazer. I think the early, dedicated adopters of today will be the leaders of tomorrow's micro-communities. We're learning how to build spaces to communicate, forming alliances that will help us organize audiences, and setting the state for things to grow.
