I was honor yesterday

Folks,

Yesterday I was asked to join the county Economic Development Council, I told then that I would be honor to be on that council.

My area is economically depressed and we need people to start small businesses that employ 2 or3 people, as that the mills and the factories have long since closed or move off shore.

I have been spending time helping the local incubator group with get their ideas up and running. I designed a notebook with tips, suggestions, spread sheets and notes. This is all from the many years that I spent developing my own business. Maybe so of these people can be spared the things that I did wrong and only do the right things.

That is an honor! Respect and recognition are high wages in my book.
We have a local group called SCORE. Service corps of retired executives. Basically, its older business owners who mentor people with start-up companies. They show you how to write a business plan, wade through starting a corporation, understand labor laws, etc. These things can be very helpful. Getting started is so daunting!
So Congratulations! We're all proud of you!

Jerry, that is an excellent thing to be involved in. The world is full of business opportunities, but it's so hard on areas that were really dependent on certain categories of manufacturing and natural resource mining. Between international competition and advanced manufacturing robots, there's a lot of squeezing going on. But there's still a lot of great business ideas out there. I'm curious to hear what kind of projects you end up working on. Keep us posted!
