so exhausted

So, I've been dealing with some really stressful personal issues lately. I was put on Lexapro back in August and that has helped tremendously. However, I have been so incredibly tired the last few weeks....the kind of tired where you can barely function. I get 8 hours of sleep each night, but can hardly wake in the mornings. Now, I don't have that depressed, unmotivated feeling, I WANT to get up and get moving but I physically can't and then during the day I just want to close my eyes and sleep. Anyone experience this? Should I go have blood drawn? What do you think? I keep thinking it's going to pass, but it's just not. Could it just be stress alone? ARG. I'm getting really frustrated b/c this is so not like me.....I want to have energy.

Lets face it, you haven't had the best past few months. So all that stress is probably doing a number on your body. When I am stressed it makes me very tired and cranky.

Another thing that makes me rundown and tired feeling is when I am not eating enough, or getting enough vitamins and minerals in my foods. So you may want to take a look at your diet.

I have been eating so much less and not very healthy. I also probably do need some vitamins. Good suggestions Kris.....thank you!

Hi Jill.
For me I was feeling that way and it turned out to be allergies. I thought all allergies were connected with runny eyes, sneezing, swelling of something important, stuff like that. Turns out I get so tired I can barely move, and I get a low-grade headache too. It's awful!
Then another time it turned out I was diabetic and had mononucleosis.
But I would check the allergies. They're downright insidious!

Jill, the times I have had that problem were when my blood sugar was out of control for a long time with lots of highs and lows, when I was anemic and it took a lot of iron tablets to build up my hemiglobinn again, and when I got old enough that age itself made me that way. I think a youngster can rule out the third reason. LOL! I think you should have your blood tested, you may be run down and have some anemia. I assume that your diabetes is at least reasonably well controlled. Good luck!

Jill,
First thing I did when I was feeling constantly tired a few months ago, was a complete battery of blood tests. If it wasn't for those, I would still be in the dark as to what was bothering me. Please, do it ASAP. You have nothing to loose.

You know Jill... I recently got so tired myself. (Not pregnancy tired) I had some lab work done and turned out I was anemic. My iron was 9.3. I started taking some yucky iron pills, but even after a few days I am starting to perk up. Careful with that one though. Best to get a lab done if you think your iron is low. You can get too much iron and it can make you sick.

The other thing too is that maybe you are just tired. Tired of people... tired of dealing... Tired of life in general. That can be physically draining when you have a lot on your plate. If I lived closer I would SO take you out for a relaxing pedi, mani and a stiff drink.

Tired problem resolved.

I really do hope you feel better soon though.

LeAnn,

I would SO take you up on the mani/pedi! That sounds so nice and fun! Maybe one day.....

I'm seeing my endo tomorrow, going to have her run a full blood workup. I hope we can figure it out....

Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions!

Well, she took loads of blood and a urine sample. I've been having headaches too and she thinks that is unrelated to my fatigue, but due to the fact that I clench my jaw (STRESS!). I should have my labs back early next week....I'll keep you guys posted!
