Intermittant Claudication
There is a trial for a new drug that helps people who suffer with intermittant claudication. I suffer with this complaint and wanted to join in the trials. The new drug helps the genes somehow form more blood vessels to replace the clogged or as in my case calcified blood vessels.
This is a painful problem as the calves of your legs cramp up with pain when you walk as the not enough blood gets to the calf muscles.
I am attempting to increase the distance I can walk by forcing myself to walk as far as I can as often as I can and hopefully this will make my body make new blood vessels. This is a painful and uncomfortable exercise but as my whole body has calcification of the elastin in the media of its blood vessels I must do it to keep it from dipping into worse cardiovascular problems. Fortunately I do not have furring or atherosclerosis which would make things much more dire as it is bad enough as it is.
I had a phone call a couple of days ago from the hospital near Birmingham UK which is one of the centres running this trial to inform me that the trial has been dropped due to lack of funding. The trial is called funny enough WALK.
Ah well back to the treadmill...
