I did try to post this in feedback but it wouldn't let me, I was wondering if there could be section for this condition? The pain from this condition is awful like diabetes it cannot be cured but may sometimes improve for a while.
Jo

I see that there have been no replies to this thread. I have never heard of this. Can you tell us more?

I'm curious about what that is, too. As far as new forums, I'd like to stick to the biggest possible categories of conditions to start. There's always a danger in a new forum of having too many topics of discussion making the site look empty. Once we get going, I have no problem adding whatever anyone wants, especially if there are a few people that want to discuss the issue regularly.

Hidranitus

I am affect in my armpits, groin and lower stomach.
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin disease.
  • It results in recurrent lesions which are painful boil-like lumps, mainly in the armpits and groin. These often leak pus.
  • Over time, these lesions may leave scarring and thickened skin.
  • HS affects around 1% of adults but hardly ever affects pre-pubertal children.
  • HS is a stubborn disease and can be difficult to treat. There are a number of treatments that can be tried including medications and surgery.
  • The lesions can be painful and embarrassing which means HS has a big impact on everyday life.
  • It is not fully understood yet exactly what causes HS and how it develops.
There are several names for HS. These are
  • acne inversa
  • Verneuil’s disease
  • pyoderma fistulans significa.
This has a big impact on my life. The pain is so bad as I have about 20 active flair ups I can't bare to wear anything other than a loose fitting nightdress today and I am having a duvet day.

jop,
I know it doesn't remove your pain with this disease, but Thank You for being brave and educating those of us who knew nothing about this problem before you spoke up. Is there anything that you've found on your own that eases your symptoms?

Nobuko

please help me and sign the petition

many of us Hs sufferers are trying to get the goverment to do more research into this condition. I am suffering big time and having lots of surgery to drain abscesses. If you feel you can please take a moment to sign a petiton to the UK government.

I would have been happy to sign the petition, however, I noticed on the petition that you must be a British citizen. Jop, I still wish you the best and hope that the petition will influence the right people to get significant research done on this condition.

Best Wishes
Nobuko

Aw, Jo, I wish there was a way to make it go away. It's truly not fair what you've had to deal with. Cuddle those piggies for me a little.
