How do you take cinnamon?

I've heard that cinnamon is good for daibetes. However, is one supposed to take it some way in its natural form, or can you mix it in with stuff? I used to eat appley things so I would take a spoonful or two of cinnamon on a regular basis. I can't say if it helped or not. I haven't had any for a while and I'm having problems, but that could be due to a wide range of things.

cinnamon

Yes, cinnamon is a good adjunct treatment for those with diabetes (or for those who'd like to prevent it). It has various beneficial actions on stabilizing blood sugar including slowing down stomach emptying time, improving insulin sensitivity and preventing excessive clotting. The dosage is between 1/4 tsp to 2 tsp per day.

Remember to always get spices that are organically grown. This ensures that there are no pesticide and herbicide residues and that it is not irradiated. (Yes, many herbs are irradiated with Cesium 137-a radioactive isotope for the purpose of "sterilizing" the spice. Our governmental agencies in their infinite wisdom allow this).

Also make sure you buy a product that contains no sugar as many cinnamon preparations are mostly sugar.

Cinnamon metabolizes blood sugar and as stated helps improve insulin sensativity.
I like sprinkeling cinnamon in my coffee. Since I drink a lot of coffee, I get my daily dose of cinnamon. I also take it in pill form from time to time when I'm not putting it in my coffee. You can find the pill form in your local health store and many pharmacies now carry it in their herbal section.
