Thrilled Just to introduce myself

I belong to Diabetes Daily. Same name , same station! 55 yrs. old. Insulin dependant for over 12 yrs. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol - have tried to take statin - they don't agree with me. I just had blood work done a couple of days ago. So I hope there a little better. I haven't eaten meat in about 3 months. Eating about 70% raw - veggies , fruit, nut , seeds, beans, . My A1c is still high 7.6 - down from 7.8 3 months ago. I'm shocked it's not better. I have to find out if I eat too much. or not take enough insulin. Doctors aren't any help. neither the Diabetic Clinic. They follow the SAD dIET and that's been a disaster. That's all for now. Suzy

Hi Suzy! I wonder if it's the fruits to blame for the high A1C?

I don't eat too much fruit. Usually maybe 1/2 apple or 1/4 of a banana a day . Maybe when I make guaccamole - I use mango. I really have to use alot of insulin to cover what I eat. I read about others and I think why is my A1c so high. They seem to eat alot more than I eat. and higher carb foods. Not sure. Doctors tell me to eat alot more than I eat. They tell me to follow the SAD diet. It doesn't work for me. Maybe it would help if I knew exactly what people ate -how much and how much insulin they have to take. My doctors tell me I don't use much insulin , but I'm not sure.
NPH - p.m. l0 units --- NPH a.m. - 5 units. 1/10 ratio for carbs. of novorapid. Thanks SuzyThanks for the Welcome

I don't use insulin (yet - knock on wood).
I think it's important to eat the same number of carbs at the same times each day. That's one of the things I've over-"heard" from the insulin users out there. Are you doing that?

Thanks all for your feedback. could someone please tell me what a typical day would be like for you. what U eat, what your sugars are and how much insulin you take. Just curious. Is my salad bowl too large. I make my own dressing. no sugar , little fat. If I have toast its usually only 1 piece with peanut butter. Most morning I have flax seed porridge that I make with cinnamon and strawberries (Just 2) Lunch usually salad. Dinner. I haven't eaten meat for about 3 months now. So I have a large salad, last night I also had 1 small baked yam and lemon jello for dessert. Herb Tea in the evening. That's it. I don't lose weight. Thanks Suzy
