How long have you had anxiety? Does the medication help?

I've been feeling quite on edge lately. I've thought about going to a doctor but I'm very worried about dependency. I have a mixed track record of taking scripts and not finding myself wanting more. I'm worried that anti-anxiety meds would be too appealing to me.

i take clonazepam and Wellbutrin for the anxiety/depression

the meds aren't 'lucrative' to me, they are my lifeline to the world

without them, i would curl up into a little ball and just sleep all day long

with them, i can go to the grocery store, or the Dr's appt or whatever activity other people do without thinking about them

good luck George and Trish

Have you ever tried Meditation? It works great for me. Even if you can just take a break for a couple of minutes and clear your mind and do some deep breathing, you should feel better. When I first starting doing this I felt like it wasn't working. Now I enjoy my time to relax and it has helped with my anxiety a lot. I used to have tremors with my anixety, now when they act up, I simply take a little time to myself and breath and they disappear. Good luck, hope this helps!

oh yes, good that you mentioned meditation

i have a couple of meditation CD's that provide the 'noise' for the background to meditating (ocean waves lapping up on the beach for example) and i practiced meditating with these sounds, and can put myself into a 'safe place' simply by turning the sounds on now................ warning, do NOT use meditation CD noise while you are operating a vehicle! because you can take yourself 'to that place' and not be aware of the traffic around you

thanks for bringing this up

there are many meditation tapes/CD's available, you just have to decide if you want to listen to whales talking to each other, or waves lapping at the shore, or wolves calling to each other at night, whatever is your fancy, then there are the ones that give you music for meditation

Kate, could you post links to your favorite CDs in the mediation forum? I think many people would find that helpful.

i'll have to see where the covers are for the CD's in order to name them

but i'll put that on my 'to do' list and look for the jewel cases they come in

I was feeling that way before I was diagnosed with ADHD. Once started on the medication it went away. Maybe see the doc and talk about trying another med?

Have you let your doctor know you are having these symptoms? They may be side effects of the medications, or it may be that you need to wait longer for the medications to kick in, either way it would be good to talk to your doctor.
