Freddie's Good News

I've just had some good news for Freddie. He has a place in a speech and language unit starting in September. And it's the unit at the school where he currently goes so he knows the kids and the teachers and it's within walking distance; if you knew how the system for allocating places here works you'd know how amazing this is.

I just have one moan though - why does it take over 2 years from the time its spotted that a child has problems to getting him the specialist place he needs? It seems that the councils are so afraid of spending money to help a child that you have to spend years filling in forms and getting evaluations and after that it took two committee meetings to decide he needs a place - it would have been better and cheaper to listen to his teachers.

That's awesome that it's finally coming together for him.
I understand your frustration. "They" spend an incredible amount of money trying to save a little bit!
Last week my husband had surgery, and they sent him home the next day. Two days later when the ambulance took him into the emergency room, they all said they see it constantly. Patients released too early to save a few dollars.
BTW, it was prostate surgery. He's mending well.

Becky sorry it took me so long to reply I've been away for a week visiting my father-in-law.
Its sad to hear that the health service is as bad where you are as it is here - a friend of mine got sent home from hospital after foot surgery - unable to walk - even though she lived on her own. Luckily friends and neighbours rallied around and she was ok but it could have been a total disaster.

Glad to hear your husband is doing well.

Jane
