My Under-Appreciated Shoulder

Tomorrow, I'm going to get an ultrasound of my shoulder. This will help identify exactly what is wrong. My doctor's best guess is a torn rotator cuff. I made the mistake of researching exactly what fixing this entails, and I really shouldn't have. This is a case where ignorance is bliss!

Have any of you had a tear in this part of your shoulder? I'd love to hear your full and speedy recovery story. I feel rather gimpy right now.

i've had frozen shoulder, which is where your rotator cuff becomes entrapped

it took me just over a year to get over it with steroid injections and physical therapy

then the other shoulder went on me........ the osteo suggested we do NOTHING this time, and i was better in about 8 months

yes, i went online and saw what surgery they do for a torn rotator cuff
hope you didn't watch it all!

Okay, it's NOT a torn rotator cuff. I'll let you know what the next diagnosis may be. I'm curious to know!

My next appointment is with an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure they'll schedule an MRI. And then, sometime after that, hopefully I'll get some results. Trust me when I say no that no one is a curious (or anxious) about this than I am. :)

Davis~
My youngest Son played baseball in college...He had a similar injury and was told he would have to have surgery... After several tests (including an MRI) surgery was not neede...But was told he had messed it up pretty bad. Alot of therapy was ahead of him...he was very discouraged and decided to add water therapy, he did range of motion exercises, and swam alot...

His promising baseball college days were over... He golfs quite a bit now, and has no problems at all with it which suprises me because I would think that would bother him, but it doesn't. He says the only time it bothers him, is in the winter months....If it bothers him too bad, he goes to the Y and swims laps for a few days in a row, and he's ok then!
Good Luck!!
Terri

I kinda thought that torn rotator cuff and frozen shoulder might be the same or close to it but apparently not. They are both discussed on the same page on the following site.

The verdict is....................... bicep tendonitis! I got a cortisone shot in the shoulder two days ago. It still hurts quite a bit, so I've been trying to avoid typing. For those of you that have gotten a cortisone shot, how long did it take to work?
