Can you live to 100 with a chronic illness?

New research says you can live to 100 - even with a chronic illness!

Quote:
For the study, Boston University researchers did phone interviews and health assessments of more than 500 women and 200 men who had reached 100. They found that roughly two-thirds of them had avoided significant age-related ailments.

But the rest, dubbed "survivors," had developed an age-related disease before reaching 85, including high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes. Yet many functioned remarkably well -- nearly as well as their disease-free peers.
I think this a call to seek healthy lives, especially when our bodies throw a wrench into the process.

No joke, I read the headline as "Can You Live With 100 Chronic Illnesses."

Another interesting story about "healthy" people with diabetes appeared in Amy's blog yesterday. http://www.diabetesmine.com/.

In the nitty gritty daily grind, I think we often lose sight of how resilient we are. The human body is an amazing machine and it can survive a lot more stress than we think.

The average guy has a heart beat of 80 beats per minute. Over a 100 year life span, your heart will beat 4,204,800,000 times. That's a lot of beats!

Ah well I reached the half way mark to 100 last month so am half way there. As I have two serious chronic diseases that is not bad going

Now for the next fifty years.... think I may go a little more careful and try not to get any more problems :)
