Will Antibiotics Stop Your Head Cold?

There's only a 1 in 15 chance that antibiotics will help your 10 day old cold. So save your co-pay money and stick it out!

That's right David! We should reserve our antibiotics for bacterial infections.....if we continue to abuse antibiotics like we do in the US, we will have nothing left that works against the scary bacteria!!!!

You could always try my late mother in law's cold cure. I think it helps because of the vitamin C.
In a one litre (glass NOT plastic) jug put the zest and juice of 3 oranges, 2 lemons and a lime (and any other citrus fruit you like - I like pink grapefruit in this!). Top up jug with water and add a couple of teaspoons of honey (or any sweetener you're allowed). Heat (in microwave) until hot (don't boil) - this releases the flavour from the zest. Allow to cool.
You can drink this neat or dilute it with lemonade or water. When Paul felt particularly bad one night he had a glass of this with a measure of brandy and 2 aspirin! I don't know if it helped with the cold but he didn't care!

I use the generic Benadryl from Wally World, get plenty of rest, don't do any real work, drink lots of liquids, warm tea and watch a bunch of movies. Some times Vitamin C in larger than normal quantity. Aspirin or any other NSAID as tolerated for fever and pains.

The best cure is rest, plenty of liquids, and in 7 to 10 days you will get over it.
